Makeover your complexion

By keeping your skin cleansed and refreshed, you can continue to look young and healthy for many years to come! To help you do this, listed below are our top five tips on how to improve the quality of your skin:
1. Drink more water
Water has a cleansing effect on your skin as well as your entire body - hydrating your skin and vital organs with essential nutrients and expunging harmful toxins out of your body and pores. As a result, it is recommended you drink between six and eight glasses, or approximately two litres, of water each day for optimum hydration.
2. Catch up on sleep
If you aim to have seven to eight hours of sleep every night, you can significantly reduce the likelihood of suffering from acne outbursts or other irritating skin conditions. This is due to the fact that whilst you are asleep, your body is able to carry out vital repairs on all your skin. If you do not get enough sleep, your cortisol and adrenaline levels will rise - hormones which have both been known to trigger breakouts and conditions such as rosacea.
3. Quit smoking
In addition to being extremely hazardous for your general health, smoking has been shown to deplete your body's natural collagen levels, which in turn reduces the elasticity in your skin and makes it appear wrinkled. Fortunately, by quitting smoking, you can prevent these changes from occurring and instead replenish your skin with essential nutrients and oxygen that would have previously been drained away. Even if you find it difficult to quit smoking entirely, by making the effort to switch to healthier options (such as Vapouriz e-cigarettes) that will not cause the same amount of damage to your skin, you can look younger for longer.
4. Choose green tea
If you are a tea or coffee addict, you may wish to consider switching to green tea. Not only does green tea aid weight loss, but it also has significant anti-inflammatory properties which can soothe red skin, acne and rosacea, amongst other skin conditions. What's more, green tea also contains epigallocatechin gallate - a type of catechin that has been scientifically proven to prevent sun-induced DNA skin damage.
5. Wear sunscreen
If you endeavour to wear sunscreen with at least SPF 15 every day, you can actively prevent the onset of sunburn and wrinkles as well as life threatening illnesses such as skin cancer.
