WATERSPORTS WEEKEND IN LONDON
The first-ever London SUP Open is just week away, and as the capital sizzles in the hottest temperatures of the year, there’s plenty on offer to keep cool. The London SUP Open, taking place 7-8 July 2018, is the ultimate summer in the city destination, with exhilarating water sports, elite stand up paddleboard racing, have-a-go SUP sessions, kids classes, free activities and much more. Entry to the event village at the Royal Docks is free of charge. The London SUP Open today announces a whole host of exciting free activities which are sure to leave Londoners feeling cooler already.
Learn To SUP: For those who’ve never tried to SUP (Stand Up Paddleboard) before, there will be a ‘learn to SUP’ area on site at the Royal Docks. This dedicated space for beginners, run by Decathlon, will be open across the entire weekend for anyone to come along and simply have ago. Any age, any ability, everyone is welcome! No booking is required, free of charge.
Youth Racing: At the Royal Docks, there will be Youth Racing for under 16s. There’ll be sprint racing on Saturday 7 July, and distance racing on Sunday 8 July with 1km & 3km options – both are completely free of charge. Attendees can hire their boards on site at the events village.
Dragon Racing: Something for all ages and abilities – dragon racing! Fun team racing on a multi-person Red Paddle Co. board for teams of four people. Signing up for this race is free of charge and board hire is available on site.
SUP Yoga & Yoga: It’s time to slow things down. The weekend is not all about racing and competing, the London SUP Open will also be offering free SUP Yoga sessions at the Royal Docks. Revellers can indulge in some self-care on the water by perfecting their asanas, warriors and downward dogs whilst floating on tranquil water atop a paddleboard. Yogis can be flexible and head down both days at 12pm or 5pm for a 45-minute class on the water – first come, first served and if that’s not enough there will also be regular on land yoga by ‘Soul Sisters Yoga’ at 9am each day which will also be completely free of charge. Taught by top yogi Charlotte Holmes, all levels are welcome.
Red Bull, the exclusive energy drinks partner for the London SUP Open, will be on site including an energy zone for participants to recuperate and relax. For more information about the inaugural London Sup Open, taking place from 7 – 8 July 2018, please visit www.londonsupopen.com
