Disney Pixar: Finding Dory

If you loved Nemo then you most certainly will love this amazing new Disney Pixar Finding Dory. We were really excited to head to an exclusive family screening in London, where we got the chance to take part in some fun activities for the movie started.

Dory (Ellen DeGeneres) joins forces with her friends Nemo and Marlin on a search for answers, some years before Dory a very forgetful fish became separated from her parents, Dory begins to have flashbacks and feels its time that she sets off to finally find her parents.

With the help of her friends Dory sets on a wild adventure in the hope to be reunited with her parent, the only problem is Dory need to get inside the Marine Life Institute, After being separated from her friends, Dory meets Hank an octopus who offers to help Dory in exchange for her placement in a Cleveland aquarium, with the help of Dory's friends old and new we anticipatingly watched as Dory continued her fun adventure to be reunited with her family.

We adored this movie, it was an amazing sequel to Nemo and most defiantly worth the wait, An amazing movie of family and friendship and determination which will warm every heart.

PhotoBox puts Dad back in the frame: WIN a slot at the PhotoBox Kids Photo Studio

PhotoBox has conducted some amazing research recently and discovered that Dads are not in enough family pictures, mainly because they are always the ones behind the camera, taking the pictures. To help put the focus back on Dad ahead of Father’s Day, PhotoBox has opened a photo studio entirely run by children, in a bid to encourage parents to feel more comfortable about letting their kids be the photographers.

In a bid to put Dad back in the frame this Father’s Day PhotoBox is opening a photo studio run entirely by kids for one day only; everyone has the chance to take part. For a chance to win a free session at the PhotoBox Kids’ Photo Studio on Saturday 25th June, enter the #FocusOnDad competition at  www.photobox.co.uk/focusondad. We were challenged to create our very own version of the Kids photo studio at home, and as the boys love taking picture it would have been great challenge, but unfortunately their Dad is on night shifts and we currently don't have the opportunity or time to take part this time, But we were lucky enough to share some of Photobox's pictures from a recent photo studio session, it defiantly looks like they had great fun.

58% of the nation’s families admit that Dad’s love of photography and passion for gadgets makes him the go-to member of the clan to pick up the camera.  Two-thirds (68%) of the UK parents surveyed admitted Dad takes the majority of family photos because Mum prefers it.  His efforts don’t go unnoticed, as more than half (56%) of those surveyed think his photos are much better than Mum’s.

When it comes to family photos, as expected kids are always stealing the show from Dad:
*Over half (51%) of parents agree one of the top reasons Dad is always behind the camera is so he *can capture all the children’s best moments
*Half (47%) of photos on display in the home feature the kids and neither parent
*Mum prefers Dad taking the family photos (68%)
*Two-thirds of Dads believe they’re better at taking photos than Mum (61%)
*A third of Dads admit trying to avoid family photos altogether (34%)

Professional Photography tips.

Professional photographer and father-of-three Darren Coleshill of  Photalife shares his own top tips for parents:

1. Pick the right camera From experience, picking the right camera is key - there’s really no point in getting them an expensive all singing all dancing camera, but equally a disposable camera isn’t right for them either.
A simple basic camera with a zoom and importantly a screen is perfect. Even a phone with a camera is fine. Children need to see what they have taken a photo of and this needs to be instant, not a few days later!
2. Holding the camera Before you get them to snap away show them how to hold the camera. If they are using a phone then showing them a grip where they hold it in each corner is normally good. Show them what happens if fingers are in front of the lens. No one enjoys looking through photos where little fingers are in the way. Show them beforehand so they won’t get disappointed when you look back at the photos later.
3. Setting up the photo When getting children interested in taking photos don’t bombard them with too much information. The best way to start is to tell them to start by getting everything in the canter then they won’t go too far wrong. This is where having a screen is ideal as they can see exactly what they’re taking a photo of.
4. Experiment  The beauty of digital photos and smartphones is that you can take endless amounts of photos and it doesn’t matter. If they get a disposable camera then it’s limited to 24 or 36, which is no good. My tip would be to give them a camera on a day out and just let them snap away. You can then look back over them together and pick out their favourites, or work on different ways they can improve.
5. Get Up Close On most cameras there will be some form of zoom, but also explain to them that if something looks too far away then move up to the subject so more of the point of interest is in the photo. This may be easier said then done, but let them find out what they like and what works best for them.
6. Focus on Interesting Things Why are they taking that photo? Once they’ve got the basics of actually taking a photo get them to take photos of interest. What catches their eye? If it was an animal or person get them to focus on that and fill the photo with the thing they found interesting.

Our Wild Adventure: Chessington World Of Adventures

I have many fond memories of visiting Chessington World Of Adventures when I was younger, So it was great to finally take my own children and let them experience a day of fun and adventure for themselves.

Our journey to Chessington was simple we got on the train from London Waterloo and traveled the 30-minute journey to Chessington South and then from there its a 10-minute walk to Chessington World Of Adventure. The kids were super excited and had already planned out their day by choosing which rides they wanted to go on first.

As soon as we arrived you could feel the excitement and the buzz in the air the weather was great and we were really looking forward to our day ahead. On arrival, we were given a map to help us navigate around we had managed to arrive just before the park opened as we wanted to make the most of our day. Here are just a few highlights of our day!

We headed straight to Transylvania to the Vampire ride Chessington's swinging roller coaster, the kids were a little nervous as we the watched the ride swoop and swing above our heads through the trees, Luckily we only waited for 15 minutes to get on which was great, we loved every minute of the ride and the boys were glad they had got on. This has to be one of my favorite rides, defiantly a ride for those who like an adventure.

After the adventure of the Vampire Ride, we opted for something a little more gentle and headed to Bubbleworks, Bubbleworks is a dark water ride the kids loved this especially as we got slightly wet as we passed through fountains.

On our journey between each ride, there were lots delicious snack shops which offered a host of food, and drinks which kept us refreshed and energised during our day.

Myself and my eldest sons favorite ride was Zufari and although we waited for 40 minutes it was most defiantly worth it, Zufari took us on a journey into Africa the off-road safari trail gave us the chance to be up and close to some of the world's most amazing animals, it was awesome to be so close.

Overall we managed to get on eleven rides and although we were all exhausted, we had such an amazing time and cannot wait to go back again and explore the other rides and areas we didn't get the chance to see.

Chessington World Of Adventures is a fun day out for the whole family and defiantly has something for everyone, Its worth checking height restrictions before queueing up for a rides as we did notice that some people hadn't and were turned away, We checked height restrictions at home using the Chessington mobile phone App as we wanted to save time and any disappointments, it also made it easier to plan our day, the app has lots of information you will need from rides and what you can expect,as well as queuing times, along with a location map which is really useful.

Thank you Chessington World Of Adventures for a wild day, we have so many amazing memories we cannot wait to come back and make more.

Chessington has a host of adventures from Over 40 rides and attractions, Chessington Zoo & SEA LIFE centre, Live Shows & Events as well as Two Resort Hotels and Glamping, Prices start from as little as £27.60 if you book online. For more information check out www.chessington.com
