Konnie Huq - Interview

“This month Netflix has teamed up with former Blue Peter presenter and Mum, Konnie Huq, I was lucky enough to ask some burning interview questions and get Konnies thoughts on fun crafts for all the family, and her favourite shows she like to watch on Netflix.”

What was the last movie you went to see ?
Having just had a baby not that long ago, I haven't been to the cinema recently so it's home movies for me. Saw Bernie on Netflix the other night which was good. It's based on a true story of suburban murder and has some of the real characters involved in the voxpops which I found very interesting.

What's you all time favourite movie ?
Don't really have an all time definitive favourite as it depends on my mood. There are so many great films it's hard to compare them and put them in a hierarchy. Recently though I am much more up for watching films that I really enjoyed first time round whereas I always used to watch films I'd never seen before as it felt like a waste to do repeat viewing. Saw Fargo again the other night, such a good movie. With streaming and on demand movies it's sometimes perfect to re watch movies especially if you are multitasking and don't want to watch something new. It's something you wouldn't do with rental.

How do you wind down ?
I love to wind down with a TV dinner and an addictive series/movie with my husband. Good food and a good film, living the dream!! When we were in the midst of Breaking Bad, we ended up having take away food deliveries a lot just so that we could get through more episodes!

Are you planning any more children ?
I wouldn't mind a third. I am one of three so maybe that's why. Two is great and if I stop here that's fine but three feels more like a gang!

What do you love about family life ?
It's so hard to articulate but it really gives a feeling of utter happiness and contentment as clichéd though it may sound. When we are all just hanging out together it's such fun. Covey has just turned 2 and so is speaking loads, he says the funniest things at times. He's picking loads up so we have to be careful not to swear. The other day he called me a nut job! His two favourite phrases at the moment are 'it's not easy' and 'is it worth it?' Already pessimistic, so young! The other day Charlie called him a twerp and he said in a very defiant way, 'daddy, I am not a twerp'... Not bad, considering he doesn't even know what a twerp is...

What makes you feel stressed ?
If I am in the middle of something and the baby, Huxley, cries for a feed and Covey knocks his drink over and Charlie has left his muddy trainers on the floor in my path all at the same moment! I can't even lift Covey at the minute as I am post C-section so that can be trying in itself!

How has motherhood changed you ?
Definitely. It really has. I think it has made me more lazy both work and social life wise. For instance we let everyone come to us a lot more instead of going to them! Because you're concentrating on the kids and home life you can easily let other things slide! It's also quite a good excuse to let other things slide which you couldn't use before! I don't have a nanny or any help and Covey isn't in nursery. Luckily both he and Hux are quite chilled most of the time otherwise I would have probably farmed them off somewhere by now!

What are your future plans ?
Child number three in the next few years if the current two don't make me change my mind by then!...and then when the kids have all started school I wouldn't mind starting up some sort of entrepreneurial business venture! I have a degree in economics, let's see if I can put it to use...

A huge Thank you to Netflix for providing me with this amazing interview opportunity.

Skylanders Trap Team

We were delighted to be invited to the reveal of the brand new Sylanders Trap Team, A brand new innovative Skylanders game.

Skylanders® is redefining the toys-to-life phenomenon with yet another ground-breaking innovation, Skylanders Trap TeamTM. In previous Skylanders games, we brought physical toys to life inside the game. With Skylanders Trap Team, we are reversing the magic by bringing characters out of the game, into physical “Traps” that kids can take with them, effectively bringing Life to Toys.

In Skylanders Trap Team, Kaos continues his ongoing quest to rule over Skylands. He has discovered the location of the legendary Cloudcracker Prison -- a fortress built entirely out of the magical substance TraptaniumTM and home to Skylands’ most nefarious baddies.  In an attempt to build his own army of foes, Kaos blows up the prison, releasing the most wanted villains and blasting shards of Traptanium to Earth in the form of Traps.  Now it’s up to Portal Masters to recapture all of the escaped villains using powerful Traptanium Traps and defeat Kaos before it’s too late!

Skylanders Trap Team introduces a ground-breaking innovation that lets Portal Masters “trap” the most wanted villains in Skylands and then play as them in the game in the battle for good. The game offers an unprecedented new addition to the game’s play pattern in the form of Traptanium Traps. When this new type of toy is placed directly into the Traptanium PortalTM, Portal Masters can “capture” a variety of special villains from the game and magically transport them from Skylands into the real world.

Players will experience an exciting new level of Skylanders innovation through the Traptanium Portal, a new ring of magical energy which reverses the magic of the toys to life category by letting players bring digital characters into the physical world. A built-in audio speaker allows players to magically hear the unique voices of the villains travel from the game into the real world Trap, and vice versa.  The Trap also lights up in sync with the villain speaking, adding even more magic to the experience.  If you look closely, you can almost see the villain trying to escape from inside the Trap.

So now there are two Ways to Play – In Skylanders Trap Team, you can play as a Skylander or capture Skylands’ most wanted foes and unleash them for good. It’s up to Portal Masters to find these villains and capture them inside the new Traps that transport the villains into the real world via the Traptanium Portal.  Once trapped, players can return the villain to Skylands as a playable character. This exciting new play pattern gives fans the option to switch between playing as a Skylander hero or a villain at any time, creating fun and unique “tag team” gameplay.

Elementally Designed Traps – Themed Trap designs add variety to the collectible Skylanders Trap Team experience.  Each Trap is elementally aligned, letting players capture villains who fall under that element. For instance, when Portal Masters explore the world of Skylands and encounter a water villain, they can insert a water Trap into the Traptanium Portal to capture that villain, as well as bring that villain back into Skylands as a playable character who helps in the fight for good. With each new trap added to their collection, Portal Masters unlock an exciting world of possibilities!

With a brand new group of Skylanders characters known as Trap Masters, lead the charge armed with their oversized crystal weapons in the fight against the most wanted villains and returning nemesis Kaos. The game introduces more than 50 new playable Skylanders heroes, including:

New Trap Master Skylanders
New Core Skylanders
Reposed, fan-favorite Skylanders

Exciting New Adventure – Skylanders Trap Team features an all new adventure-filled story with fun and interesting new characters as well as returning franchise favorites.  The game delivers a diverse and dynamic, story-driven gameplay experience, filled with adventure, combat, puzzles, mini games, activities, platforming, and drop-in/drop and out as well as co-op play -- all set within a variety of new compelling environments.
With each new addition to their Trap Team collection, Portal Masters unlock exciting new gameplay possibilities within each level. Seasoned fans can play Skylanders Trap Team with their entire collection of 175 forward compatible characters from Skylanders SWAP ForceTM, Skylanders GiantsTM and Skylanders Spyro’s Adventure®.

This exciting Skylanders Trap Team will hit our shelves in October of this year. We were very excited as we watched the preview and gameplay, the brand new characters looked amazing, and with an extra elements of gameplay using the Traptanium Traps gave a compleate new exciting element to the game.
My boys are so excited and cannot wait to get the new starter pack.

Nintendo 3DS - Cut the Rope

We love this cool problem solving game, The aim of the game is to cut the rope and decide the best way to make the candy fall into the cute monsters mouth, whilst collecting as many gold stars as possible to increase your score.
Each of the levels are themed boxes with new gameplay and challenges, with 300 levels across 12 boxes you are in for some puzzle solving fun, Cut the Rope also feature Om Nom stories which is a series of short animated episodes.

When we started we found the first few games quite simple to solve, and cutting the rope to feed the little monster was quite simple, But as the game progressed we found ourselves squealing and getting very excited as we faced obstacles and enemies which made the game much more challenging, so much so we found ourselves debating the next move.

It was a very exciting game, in fact myself and my son sat down and totally lost track of time, as we got so ingrossed,We took turns and challenged each other to complete each game and failing meant is was the other persons turn to see if they could solve the puzzle, It was great fun.
We loved the bright visuals and colours, especially the cute monster.
The game was lots of fun. We love this game is now a firm favortite.

Cut the Rope RRP £27.99 form all good store and available to download at Nintendo-3DS-download-software/Cut-the-Rope

Half Term Fun

It's been a nice half term, I feel a little sad that as usual I didn't get as much time off as I would have liked, due to work. it's always really hard to get annual leave where I work so because of this we always try to squeeze in as much as we can in the late afternoons, evenings and weekends.

As long as my boys can head back to school with some amazing memories of family fun and giggles I'm happy.

We managed to have some happy half term fun here is just some of what we got up to.

Disney on ice

Warner Bros Event.

Easter Egg Hunt

As well as some cosy movie nights and trips to the park for some football/basket ball fun, and eating out together. it had been a really nice half term break.

Netflix

I'm delighted to be part of the Netflix Stream Team as a user of Netflix for many years, we generally watch Netfix via our games console which is located in the living room, So I was delighted to try Apple TV.

Apple TV is a super smart little box that connects to your TV to bring you the very best in movies, You can.....
Rent from a selection of HD movies
Watch Films and TV programmes
Using my Photo stream you can view you recent videos and photos
Plus you can also connect you ipad, iphone or ipod touch wirelessly using airplay and most importantly I can watch my favorite movies on Netflix

The box is very small and sleek and very easy to set up, I would say it took less then ten minutes before we was up and running and ready to go.

We installed our Apple TV in our bedroom which is amazing - So now I can sit in bed and watch some of my favorite movies, In fact my bed has now become part of our family movie time and we all bundle into the bed and watch a really good family movie on Netflix. It had been great I love the whole entertainment experience the Apple TV had brought.

We are really enjoying our Netflix entertainment at the moment and over the half term Easter holidays we have had some amazing cosy nights watching some classic family movies and cartoons, and when the kids are in bed, On goes a cool action movie.

We are sharing our experience of Netflix as part of the Netflix Streamteam.

Great British Home Challenge

I couldn't wait to take part and try The Great British Home Challenge, as much as I like going out and about for me there truley is no place like home. After a hard days work or a day out with the family, I love nothing more then coming home.
My home life can get very hectic at times so I like minimalist look so the less the better, which means less to clean and tidy up!!!!
I love neutral colours with glittery accessories.,So it was interesting for me to see the results of the challenge and a huge "yes" that's me!!!!!All but the selfie part but everything out screams my style, why don't you take the quiz ?

“This post is an entry for the #GreatBritishHome Challenge  sponsored by Victoria Plumb, a source of quality bathrooms for every type of home. Take its “What’s Your Celebrity Home Style?” quiz to discover what your home says about you.”

We were delighted to attend the amazing Disney on Ice - Worlds of Fantasy at Wembley Arena in London.

Very excitedly we made our way to the arena, we had previously been fortunate to see the last Disney on Ice tour, so we knew this time we were in for another treat.

We was not disappointed, unfortunately due to heavy traffic we missed the start of the show,But that didn't dampen out spirits as we sat down to be entertained and dazzled at the amazing ice skating characters from some of our favorite Disney movies.

Totally absorbed we were dazzled by the awesome moves and the stories, We were delighted to see our favorite Disney Characters come to life on the ice,
We clapped and cheered as they entered the arena. The entire arena was alive with excitement as we put our hands together and joined in with the amazing songs.
We excitingly anticipated the next ice skating moves, as the Disney charters spun and swirled performing the most amazing ice skating moves, we were delighted to see the scenery change in a instant and our favorite characters take to the air, which kept us on the edge of our seats, and left us enjoying every single second on the show.

Alternatively, plot out eggs for each child to find, leaving a clue at each egg to find the next one. Once everyone has found their eggs, there is a golden egg hidden somewhere no one will look… let them all search for this one with no clues-whoever finds this egg wins an extra Easter surprise!

  • Spoons - one for each person

No.4 Eggheads

What you will need:
  • Printed images or words on paper (laminated) and cut into 15-20 cards
  • Scorecard (list the items on the cards)
Eggheads
This game will test your memory! Create your own Easter related cards, here are our suggestions:
Coloured Easter eggs, Easter bunny, chicks, baskets, daffodils, palm leaves, cross, baskets, church, carrot, nests, ‘Sunday’, ‘April’, lamb, prayer.
On each go, let each person look at the items on the cards for 2-3 minutes, once they have looked cover or turn over the cards. They then have to say out loud the memorised objects, the judge ticks off how many they get, and it is the next persons go… and so on. The winner correctly states the most items.
Alternatively, each card has a double; these pairs are seen and turned over, each player takes turns to flip over two cards, if they are not matching they get turned back over, if they match they stay faced up and that player gets a point. The winner has the most points.

No.5 Egg Bowling

What you will need:
  • 3 Hard-boiled eggs for each player
  • One hard-boiled egg painted white

No.6 Eggsplat!

What you will need:
  • 3 Hard-boiled eggs
  • 2 raw eggs (per person)
  • Light weight ball
Eggsplat!
Each person gets a go, the aim is to knock off two of the eggs successfully without hitting a raw egg, if you hit a raw egg it’ll ‘Eggsplode!’ then you lose a point, the best of three wins!

No.7 Eggsplode!

What you will need:
  • A hard-boiled egg/bean bag
  • CD player

No.8 Hop Scotch-egg!

What you will need:
  • Coloured cardboard egg cut outs
  • CD Player
Hop Scotch-egg

No.9 Bunny Bop

What you will need:
  • Music player and music
  • Cardboard eggs on the floor
  • 4+ people
Bunny Bop
Similar to musical chairs this is our very own easter version! Get moving around dancing and walking around the cardbord eggs in the room whilst the music is playing, remove one egg and then pause the music each person needs to be frozen in a dance pose and stood on an egg, the one not stood on an egg and anyone moving is out. Carry on in this way, removing an egg and taking out moving bodies. The last person remaining and on an egg wins.

No.10 Hot Cross Bunny

What you will need:
  • A chocolate bunny or person acting as bunny
  • 3+ people
Hot Cross Bunny
A version of the game hot and cold - one person is blindfolded while the other people hide the bunny this could be a person or an object. Once the bunny is hidden you may remove the blindfold from the seeker and begin. The group not seeking or hiding will help the seeker by clapping lightly or loudly (loudly when near the hidden object) and (quietly when not near) therefore when you are near the bunnies hiding place the clapping grows louder, and when you are further away, it is quieter and slower.

A huge Thank you to Prezzybox for the amazing activities x
